Industrial safety insights
Safety begins with understanding the work.
Hazard identification, energy isolation, confined spaces and incident learning. Explained plainly, linked to primary sources and written for the people closest to the hazard.
- Choose controls that change the risk
- Near misses are signals worth understanding
- Zero energy is a verified state, not an assumption

Leading and lagging indicators: measuring safety before harm
Injury rates tell you what has already gone wrong. Leading indicators show whether the things that prevent harm are actually happening.

Stop-work authority only works if stopping is easy
Almost every site says anyone can stop the job. Whether people actually do depends on what happens the first time someone uses it.

Make toolbox talks a two-way conversation
A briefing works best when the crew helps make the plan workable. It should not be a speech to sit through or a signature to collect.

Human oversight of AI: what it takes for a person to really be in control
“A human in the loop” only protects anyone if that person can understand the system, notice when it is wrong and stop it. The EU AI Act spells this out.

Computer vision for PPE detection: what a pilot should prove
Camera-based detection of hard hats, vests or exclusion-zone breaches is easy to demonstrate and hard to validate. This is what to measure before you trust it.

AI and worker safety: potential, limits and questions
