Plan fall protection around the task
A practical planning conversation for work where a person could fall, with links to US OSHA construction guidance.

Describe the work before choosing a measure
Identify where the work will happen, how people will reach and leave it, how materials will move, and how the work area may change as the project progresses. Consider edges, openings, fragile surfaces, temporary access and other trades whose work affects the area.
Then assess whether the task can be designed or sequenced to reduce exposure, and what protective measures fit the actual conditions. Selection, installation, inspection, training and rescue arrangements need competent planning for the particular system and task [2].
Prefer collective protection
Following the hierarchy of controls, measures that prevent a fall for everyone. Guardrails, covers, working platforms. Generally depend less on individual behaviour than personal fall-arrest systems. Where personal systems are used, a suspended worker must be rescued promptly, so rescue belongs in the plan.
Coordinate across the project
Work-at-height arrangements can be affected by scaffold changes, lifting operations, weather, handovers and incomplete structures. Make responsibilities and change triggers clear, and pause to reassess when the agreed conditions no longer exist.
These are planning prompts, not a substitute for a compliant fall-protection plan. Requirements differ by jurisdiction and task.
